This shot is the culmination of my years as a self-taught artist. Taken at 3:00 AM on a railway bridge over the Nile during a city blackout, I placed my phone face-down on the rusted steel—risking my only device to frame our industrial world against the cosmos. Beyond the technique, this photo was a surprise for my cousin, who stood beside me, overwhelmed by life’s negativity and the weight of his problems. I wanted to show him—and myself—that this immense beauty exists even when we are too blinded by our struggles to see it. As the 30-second exposure gathered light, we stood in silence, reclaiming 'A Sky We Forgot.' It’s a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is a hidden brilliance that doesn't just appear for a reward, but has been there all along, waiting for us to look up and remember the beauty of the chance to experience this moment.
